CYLA Boys Lacrosse has programs in five age groups.

The age groups for Spring 2009 are divided into:

Anklebiters: Kindergarten & 1st Grade
Clinic - 2nd & 3rd Grade
Pee Wee - 4th & 5th Grade
Middie - 6th & 7th Grade
Junior - 8th & 9th Grade

The Clinic, Pee Wee, Middie and Junior age groups play in the Anne Arundel County Youth Lacrosse Association (AACYLA)

ANKLEBITERS: The "Anklebiters" program emphasizes instruction in basic fundamentals. Practices and modified games usually start in the first or second week of April and ends during the last week of May.

CLINIC: The "Clinic" program's emphasis is on instruction and less on competition. Games are played on a slightly smaller field and rules are modified to eliminate heavy contact. Coaches are on the field during games and act as referees for games. Games are played throughout Anne Arundel County primarily on weekends with some games during the week.

PEEWEE: The "PeeWee" program's emphasis is still instructional. It is the goal of this program to have all teams of equal talent. Games are played throughout Anne Arundel County primarily on weekends with some games during the week. County officials referee these games.

MIDDIE: The "Middie" program starts the shift in emphasis to competition. Teams at this level are broken into skill levels. We will have a mix of players by this level. Some players will have played for several years while others are playing for the first season. Basic skills are still taught to all players, but by breaking into skill level teams we can teach advanced techniques to the experienced players. Games are played throughout Anne Arundel County primarily on weekends with some games during the week. The season ends with County and State Championship games for the top teams.

JUNIORS: The "Juniors" program continues the emphasis on competition. Teams at this level are broken into skill levels. The program is open to players of all level of ability, including beginners. Games are played throughout Anne Arundel County primarily on weekends with some games during the week. The season ends with County and State Championship games for the top teams.

Please note that if your son will be playing in the Junior Lacrosse Division
this year in Anne Arundel County. The CYLA Junior program continues the
emphasis on competition that started at the Midget level. Teams at the
Junior level are broken into various skill levels. Some players will have
played for several years while others are playing for the first time. Basic
skills are still taught to all players, but by breaking into skill level
teams, CYLA can teach advanced techniques to the experienced players.
Evaluations will be used to assess where your son will be placed according
to his lacrosse skills and athletic ability. Games are played throughout
Anne Arundel County primarily on weekends with some games during the week.
